Step Ring for Holes (GSD)

The GSD step ring consists of a wear-resistant PTFE ring and an O-ring. The O-ring seals at the bottom of the groove and provides preload to the PTFE ring, compensating for its wear. It is used for unidirectional sealing in hydraulic cylinder pistons and typically paired with a guide ring. For hole diameters smaller than 40 mm, a split groove design is recommended.

Material composition

Under normal conditions, a combination of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) and nitrile rubber (NBR) is used. In special cases, fluororubber (FKM) may be selected.

● Operating Temperature:

Nitrile Rubber (NBR): -30 to +120°C

Fluororubber (FKM): -20 to +200°C

● Working Media: Hydraulic oil, gas, water (fluororubber should be used for phosphate ester-based hydraulic oil).
